About AgriStack

  1. It is a federated Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) for India’s agriculture sector designed to provide unique digital identities (Farmer IDs) and streamline the delivery of farm-related services and welfare schemes.
  2. It is a component of the Digital Agriculture Mission (DAM), approved by the Union Cabinet in September 2024, it functions as the “UPI for agriculture”.

Key Components

It has three foundational registries, created and maintained by States/UTs:

  1. Farmer Registry
    • Assigns farmers a digital Farmer ID, linked with land, crops, livestock, demographic/family details and scheme benefits.
    • Target: 11 crore farmers.
    • Completion: March 2027, including dynamic Records of Rights (RoR) synchronisation; March 2028 for the Northeastern States.
    • States receive central financial assistance for developing the registry.
  1. Crop Sown Registry
    • Records crops cultivated on farms through mobile-based Digital Crop Surveys conducted each agricultural season.
    • Provides updated data on cropping patterns.
  1. Geo-referenced Village Map Registry
    • Links land records with geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) to digitally map land.
    • Target: Cover all villages by March 2027.
