Maritime Security Exercise

Indian Coast Guard (ICG) & United States Coast Guard (USCG)

  1. Exercise ‘Sea Defenders-2024’ between the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) & United States Coast Guard (USCG) concluded at Port Blair on March 9, 2024.
  2. The exercise was aimed at enhancing maritime cooperation and interoperability between the two forces.

India - Mozambique - Tanzania Trilateral Exercise

  1. INS Tir and INS Sujata will participate in the forthcoming 2nd edition of India Mozambique Tanzania (IMT) TriLateral (TRILAT) Exercise, scheduled from 21-29 Mar 24.
  2. The 1st edition of IMT TRILAT exercise conducted in Oct 22, saw participation of INS Tarkash with the Tanzanian and Mozambique Navies.

EXERCISE LAMITIYE – 2024

Joint Military Exercise (biennial training event)

Indian Army and Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF).

  1. Indian Army participated in the 10th edition of Joint Military Exercise “LAMITIYE-2024”.
  2. It was conducted at Seychelles from 18-27 March 2024.
  3. ‘LAMITIYE’ meaning ‘Friendship’ in the Creole language is a biennial training event and has been conducted in Seychelles since 2001.
  4. 45 personnel each from the GORKHA RIFLES of the Indian Army and Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF) participated in the exercise.

Form of a Tri-Services Live Fire and Manoeuvre Exercise

  1. The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi witnessed a synergised demonstration of indigenous defence capabilities in the form of a Tri-Services Live Fire and Manoeuvre Exercise in Pokhran, Rajasthan.
  2. 'Bharat Shakti' showcased a range of indigenous weapon systems and platforms based on the country's self-reliant initiative as a demonstration of the country's power.

Bilateral tri-Service Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) Exercise

India and the US, a bilateral tri-Service

  1. A bilateral tri-Service Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) Exercise between India and the US.
  2. Tiger Triumph – 24, was scheduled on the Eastern Seaboard from 18 to 31 Mar 24.
  3. Indian Naval ships, Indian Naval aircraft, Indian Army personnel and Indian Air Force along with Rapid Action Medical Team (RAMT) will participate.
  4. The US would be represented by US Navy Ships with embarked troops of the US Marine Corps and US Army.
  5. The exercise is aimed at developing interoperability for conducting HADR operations and refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to enable rapid and smooth coordination between forces of both countries.
