Recently, Agni-4, a surface-to-surface Medium-Range Ballistic Missile (MRBM),   indigenously  developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) was successfully test-fired from the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur, Odisha.

About Agni-4 Missile

It is operated by the Strategic Forces Command (SFC) as part of India’s strategic missile arsenal and is designed to deliver strategic payloads while supporting the country’s credible deterrence capability.

Key Features

Agni-4 combines advanced propulsion, mobility and guidance technologies to deliver accurate and reliable strategic strike capability.

  1. Range: Capable of engaging targets up to 4,000 km.
  2. Propulsion: Powered by a two-stage solid-fuel rocket motor.
  3. Launch Platform: Deployed from a road-mobile launcher, providing greater operational flexibility.
  4. Payload Capacity: Can carry a payload of up to 1,000 kg.
  5. Navigation System: Equipped with a Ring Laser Gyro-based Inertial Navigation System (RINS) supported by a Micro Navigation System (MINGS) for precise target guidance.
  6. Accuracy: Has a Circular Error Probability (CEP) of less than 100 metres. CEP is a standard measure of weapon accuracy, indicating how close a missile is expected to strike its intended target.
