Context

“The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) recently marked the 37th Raising Day of Project UDAYAK, which supports strategic connectivity in India’s eastern border areas.”

About Project UDAYAK

  1. It was established on 1st June 1990 at Doomdooma, Assam, to promote infrastructure development in India’s far-eastern region.
  2. The name “UDAYAK” means “Rising Sun”, as its area of responsibility includes the region that receives the country’s first sunrise.
  3. It develops and maintains strategic road infrastructure in Arunachal Pradesh and parts of Assam.
  4. It enhances connectivity in border areas along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and the India–Myanmar border.
  5. It is currently constructing roads and border-fencing infrastructure along the India–Myanmar border, supporting border management, regional connectivity, and national security.
