Recently, the Prime Minister of India visited the Netherlands as part of the second phase of his five-nation foreign tour to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation.

About Netherlands

  1. The Netherlands is a Northwestern European country bordered by Germany in the east, Belgium in the south and the North Sea in the north and west.
  2. Amsterdam serves as the capital city of the country.
  3. The country experiences a temperate maritime climate with mild winters, cool summers and year-round rainfall.
  4. Its major geographical regions include the Lowlands, the Veluwe and Utrecht Hill Ridge, and the Limburg Hills.
  5. Important rivers flowing through the Netherlands are the Rhine, Meuse (Maas) and Scheldt.
  6. The IJsselmeer is the country’s largest freshwater lake.
  7. Vaalserberg is the highest point in the Netherlands, rising to about 1,058 feet above sea level.
  8. The country possesses major natural gas reserves along with mineral resources such as zinc and magnesium.
