Recently, the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan (PM-GSMP) completed 2 years.

About PM Gati Shakti

1. It was launched in October 2021.
2. It aims to increase multimodal connectivity, improved logistics efficiency and seamless movement of people, goods, and services.
3. Main goal of this plan is to achieve self-reliance and a $5 trillion economy by the year 2025.
4. It focusses on economic growth driven by 7 engines namely:

• Ports,
• Roads,
• Railways,
• Waterways,
• Airports,
• Mass Transport,
• Logistics Infrastructure.

5. It incorporated various infrastructure schemes like Bharatmala, Sagarmala, dry/land ports, UDAN, etc.
6. It has also launched a centralized portal named “Gati Shakti Portal” to unite the infrastructural initiatives of 16 central ministries and departments. It aims to facilitate collaboration among different government ministries right from the project planning phase.

Major achievements of PM Gati Shakti are:

1. The rank of India has improved to 22 from 44 in the international shipment ranking.
2. Under this plan, more than 300 central and state projects worth ₹11.58 lakh crore have been started in the last two years.
3. The project finalization time has reduced from 3 to 4 months to just 1 month, thus improving ease of doing business in India.
4. More than100 infrastructure projects were recommended for approval this fiscal year.
