INS Tabar in Maritime Partnership Exercise

The Indian Naval Ship (INS) Tabar recently participated in a Maritime Partnership Exercise (MPX) with the Spanish Navy ship Atalaya in the Mediterranean Sea. This exercise aims to enhance bilateral naval relations and strengthen maritime cooperation between India and Spain.

About MPX:

  1. Activities: The MPX included various advanced exercises:
    1. Station Keeping
    2. Replenishment at Sea Approaches (RASAPs)
    3. Flying Exercise (FYEX)
    4. Steam Past
    5. PHOTOEX Serial

INS Tabar:

  1. Type: Stealth frigate
  2. Class: Third Talwar-class ship built in Russia for the Indian Navy
  3. Commissioned: April 2004, in Kaliningrad
  4. Capabilities:
    1. Conducts air, surface, and sub-surface missions
    2. Operates independently or as part of a larger naval task force
    3. Equipped with supersonic BrahMos anti-ship cruise missiles and Barak-1 missiles
    4. First Talwar-class frigate to carry BrahMos missiles
