Recently, the Indian Air Force (IAF) participated in Exercise Pitch Black 2026, a multinational air warfare exercise hosted by Australia, aimed at strengthening operational interoperability and enhancing cooperation among participating air forces.
About Exercise Pitch Black
- Exercise Pitch Black is a biennial multinational air warfare exercise hosted by the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF).
- It is the RAAF’s flagship international flying exercise, aimed at strengthening interoperability and operational coordination among participating air forces.
- The exercise derives its name from the extensive night-time flying operations conducted over Australia’s vast sparsely populated regions.
2026 Edition
- The 2026 edition is being held from 20 July to 7 August 2026 at RAAF Bases Darwin, Tindal, and Amberley.
- It involves 19 countries, over 100 aircraft, and more than 4,400 personnel, making it one of the largest multinational air exercises in the Indo-Pacific region.
