  • The original name of Dheeran Chinnamalai was Theerthagiri Sarkarai Manradiar.
  • Born: April 17, 1756, near present-day Kangeyam, Tiruppur district (Tamilnadu).
  • He was a master in all the arts and crafts of guerrilla warfare.
  • He was a Palaiyakara (Poligar) and chieftain who was the ruler of the Kongu Nadu region.
  • He helped Tipu Sultan in the war against the British and played an important role in the victories at Chitheshwaram, Mazhavalli and Srirangapatna. 
  • August 2, 1805: He was hanged by the British at Sankagiri Fort in Tamil Nadu.
