Dheeran Chinnamalai (1756-1805)

The original name of Dheeran Chinnamalai was Theerthagiri Sarkarai Manradiar.
Born: April 17, 1756, near present-day Kangeyam, Tiruppur district (Tamilnadu).
He was a master in all the arts and crafts of guerrilla warfare.
He was a Palaiyakara (Poligar) and chieftain who was the ruler of the Kongu Nadu region.
He helped Tipu Sultan in the war against the British and played an important role in the victories at Chitheshwaram, Mazhavalli and Srirangapatna.
August 2, 1805: He was hanged by the British at Sankagiri Fort in Tamil Nadu.
