CBI’s ABHAY Platform for Cyber Fraud Prevention

CBI’s ABHAY Platform for Cyber Fraud Prevention

Context

Recently, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) introduced the AI-based “ABHAY” system to enable citizens to check whether notices issued in the name of the agency are genuine and to curb online frauds.

About ABHAY System

  1. ABHAY stands for “AI-Based Helpbot for Authentication of Your Notice”.
  2. The platform aims to protect citizens from fake notices, impersonation fraud and “digital arrest” scams.
  3. The system was developed to counter the growing misuse of fake law-enforcement documents, AI-generated content and deepfake technology by cybercriminals.
  4. It is India’s first real-time notice verification platform designed to tackle cyber-enabled fraud.
  5. Users can upload scanned copies of suspicious notices after OTP-based verification.
  6. The AI system then identifies whether the notice is genuine or fraudulent.
  7. The service remains available round the clock through the official CBI website and the ABHAY Verification Platform.
