  • PM Modi inaugurated the Boeing India Engineering & Technology Center (BIETC) campus in Bengaluru and introduced the Boeing Sukanya Program to promote girls' entry into India’s aviation sector.

About Boeing Sukanya Program

  1. Aims to empower girls and women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields, providing training for aviation jobs.
  2. Involves creating STEM Labs at 150 locations to foster interest in STEM careers.
  3. Offers scholarships for women undergoing training to become pilots.
  4. India has a commendable 15% of female pilots, three times the global average.
  5. While female enrollment in STEM courses has risen to over 42% in 2021-22, workforce participation remains at a modest 14% in 2021.

Boeing India Engineering and Technology Campus (BIETC)

  1. The new campus in Bengaluru is built with an investment of Rs 1,600 crore and spans 43 acres.
  2. Represents Boeing’s largest investment in such a facility.
  3. Significance of the Campus:
  1. Next-generation products and services: Will contribute to the creation of advanced products for the aerospace and defence industry.
  2. "Make in India-Make for the world": Strengthens India's resolution to be a manufacturing hub for the world.
