- Futala Lake is facing continuous inflow of untreated sewage along with increasing garbage accumulation on its banks, raising serious concerns about water quality, public health, and the long-term survival of this historic urban lake.
- Also called Telankhedi Lake, it is an artificial lake (man–made) located in Western part of Nagpur, Maharashtra and is believed to be more than 200 years old.
- It was constructed during the Bhonsle dynasty period in the 18th century to serve as a community water resource by supplying water to nearby villages and agricultural fields.
- It spreads across nearly 60 acres, making it one of the largest lakes in Nagpur.
- Three sides of the lake are bordered by forest cover, while the fourth side has a developed landscaped beach. This natural–urban combination gives the lake both ecological and recreational value.
- Recreational and Tourism Features: It has a scenic promenade for visitors. Boating facilities are available. There is an amusement park nearby for families. The lake is especially famous for its multi-coloured musical fountains, which attract large crowds in the evenings.
