  1. Futala Lake is facing continuous inflow of untreated sewage along with increasing garbage accumulation on its banks, raising serious concerns about water quality, public health, and the long-term survival of this historic urban lake.
  2. Also called Telankhedi Lake, it is an artificial lake (manmade) located in Western part of Nagpur, Maharashtra and is believed to be more than 200 years old.
  3. It was constructed during the Bhonsle dynasty period in the 18th century to serve as a community water resource by supplying water to nearby villages and agricultural fields.
  4. It spreads across nearly 60 acres, making it one of the largest lakes in Nagpur.
  5. Three sides of the lake are bordered by forest cover, while the fourth side has a developed landscaped beach. This natural–urban combination gives the lake both ecological and recreational value.
  6. Recreational and Tourism Features: It has a scenic promenade for visitors. Boating facilities are available. There is an amusement park nearby for families. The lake is especially famous for its multi-coloured musical fountains, which attract large crowds in the evenings.
