UPSC’s Instruction for Essay Paper (as per UPSC Notification)

1. UPSC Civil Service Exam Mains Paper 1 (popularly known as essay paper) is of 250 marks.
2. Candidates may be required to write 2 essays on multiple topics in 3 hours.
3. They will be expected to keep closely to the subject of the essay to arrange their ideas in orderly fashion, and to write concisely.
4. Credit will be given for effective and exact expression.
