What is UPSC Exam?

3 Stages Of UPSC Civil Services Exam

Stage 1: Prelims (1 Qualifying + 1 Merit Deciding Paper)

2 Papers (Each 200 Marks/2 Hrs.)

Score Needed

1. General Studies - 100 Qs. (Each 2 Marks)

A Student in this paper has to score maximum as it decides entry in 2nd stage

2. CSAT-Aptitude-80 Qs. (each 2.5 marks)

A Student in this paper has to score only 33% as it is only qualifying exam.

Both Papers Are MCQ Type With 1/3rd Negative Marking

Stage 2: Mains (2 Qualifying + 7 Merit Deciding Papers)

Stage 3: Interview (275 Marks)

  • In Civil Services Interview, personality is tested on parameters like confidence, empathy, and balanced opinion, mature and independent thoughts.
 

Final Selection (2025 Marks)

  • Final selection takes place on the basis of total marks (2025) of mains (1750) and interview (275). Marks of stage-1 (Prelims) are not counted for final selection.
  • Marks out of 2025 decides the final merit, rank, service and cadre of the candidate.
